The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause

Zoe’s mother is dying of cancer. Her father is always at the hospital and, on the few occasions when he is home, too encompassed by his own grief to help her deal with her own. Then she meets Simon. Simon is beautiful and seems to understand what Zoe is going through. When Zoe discovers that the reason Simon is able to empathize is because he lost his own mother, Zoe feels even more drawn to him. As Simon unveils more about himself, though, Zoe is drawn into a dangerous ploy to help Simon avenge his mother’s murder.

Though the characters could be interesting and the story line has potential, this book reads like a bad soap opera.
