Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Evie finally has what she's always longed for: a normal life away from IPCA. While she attends high school in Lend's hometown, he's away at college. With homework, a normal job, and a boyfriend that she only sees on weekends, Evie is surprised at how boring normal is. When IPCA tries to get her to come back and do some odd-jobs for them, Evie jumps at the chance to be special again. She is partnered up with Jack, a human who grew up in Faerie and can create the doors that allow them to travel easily from place to place. Behind Lend's back, she goes on missions for IPCA, each more disastrous than the last. Then Rend shows up, bringing with him information about Evie's past and the war that is brewing over her.

The pacing on this one was a little slower and I was disappointed with the lack of relationship between Evie and Lend. I still love Evie and all of her 'bleeping,' though! By the end, things read more like the first book and I am still eager for the last book, Endlessly, to be released July 24, 2012.

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

When Evie was 8, the International Paranormal Containment Agency (IPCA) realized that she could see through the glamours that paranormals cast and they immediately brought her in. She's been working for them ever since, bagging and tagging paranormals for neutralization. Her best friend is a mermaid who runs central processing, her ex-boyfriend is an extremely controlling faerie, and her mother figure is the head of her branch of IPCA, but what Evie wants more than anything is to be normal. When a strange boy breaks into their building, Evie finds him and stops him. She is fascinated with what she sees under his glamour: the boy looks as if he's made of water. Evie is fascinated and begins spending all of her free time with Lend. Then she learns that paranormals are being murdered and IPCA can't come up with an explanation. When she begins having dreams about a prophetic poem, she begins to wonder if maybe she's just as paranormal as the creatures she hunts.

Loved, loved, loved this book! Evie cracks me up because she's so girlie but also completely kick-ass. And the relationship that her and Lend build is so very sweet. Not to mention the surprise of finding out what she is and why Reth was being so hard core about forcing things on her... Reading the second one, Supernaturally, right now! Endlessly, the final book in this trilogy, is supposed to release sometime in 2012.

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Now that the Mortal War is over, life can go back to normal, with a few exceptions. Simon is a daywalking vampire living with his mother. Luke and Jocelyn are (finally!) planning their wedding. Clary is training to be a Shadowhunter, and her and Jace are able to be open about their relationship. When they begin finding murdered Shadowhunters throughout the city and there are multiple attempts on Simon's life, it's time for the Clave to step in and fight some demons. But when Jace starts pulling away from Clary, he has to fight his inner demons or risk losing her forever.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Cassandra Clare is one of my favorite authors! I have to admit that I'm a bit peeved about the slight (HUGE!) cliffhanger at the end, but I know from reading her that it will all pay off in the end. And poor Jace! He is practically tortured throughout this whole book. I can not wait for City of Lost Souls to be released on May 8, 2012!

He's been taken to a mythic place for warriors known as Valhalla. While a group of evil pixies is invading her town she has to save him. With more teens going missing every day an all-out war seems imminent. Zara has been pixie kissed and is now a queen. She must learn to trust her new power and her friends. I LOVED this book! I really enjoy the characters in this series and the burgeoning love triangle between Zara, Nick and Astley. Can't wait to read the next installment!

Captivate by Carrie Jones

Zara and her friends knew they hadn’t solved the pixie problem for good. Far from it. The king’s needs grow deeper every day he’s stuck in captivity. It’s made him vulnerable. And now there’s a new king in town. A turf war is imminent, and many lives are at stake. Can Zara and Nick protect everyone? Zara must decide what she is willing to sacrifice to save the ones she loves...

I absolutely LOVED the second book of this series! The relationships between these characters are so real and alive to the reader. I could not put this one down and will be starting the next book, Entice, immediately.

Sunday

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

Valentine has possession of two of the three Mortal Instruments which will allow him to control the angel Raziel and essentially give him the power to rule over all Shadowhunters. Clary is coming to terms with her newfound power for creating runes, Simon is adjusting to life as a daywalker, and Jace is just as stubborn and sarcastic as ever! With little time left to stop Valentine, Jace takes off on his own to stop him from acquiring the third Mortal Instrument. Meanwhile, Clary is fighting with the Clave, trying to unite the Shadowhunters with the Downworlders in order to stop Valentine. The Shadowhunters' freedom comes down to this moment if they have the strength and courage to embrace it.

With so many questions answered, this book helps make The Mortal Instruments my absolute favorite series! Look for the fourth book in the series, City of Fallen Angels, in March 2011. In the meantime, check out Clare's Infernal Devices series, starting with A Clockwork Angel coming out in August 2010.

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Clary's life has changed immensely since she discovered the world of Shadowhunters. Between her mother being in a magically induced coma, her new relationship with Simon, and complications with Jace, Clary has a lot on her plate. When Downworlder children start getting murdered and the second Mortal Instrument goes missing, the Shadowhunters believe that Valentine, an extremist Shadowhunter, is behind it. Due to his relationship with Valentine, this drags Jace into the investigation, but which side is he really on?

With all of the action, humor, and longing of the first, this sequel definitely lives up to its predecessor!

Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

The underground population of witches, vampires, and werewolves has lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But after a genetically engineered virus wipes out a large part of humanity, many of the "Inderlanders" reveal themselves, changing everything. Rachel Morgan, witch and bounty hunter with the Inderland Runner Services, is one of the best at apprehending supernatural lawbreakers, but when it comes to following the rules, she falls short. Determined to buck the system, she quits and is reluctantly forced to team up with Ivy, a living vampire. But this witch is way out of her league, and must evade shape-changing assassins, and outwit a powerful crime lord.

This is the first book in the Rachel Morgan series.(There are currently eight)
They are all fun, suspenseful and give a fresh look at supernatural creatures.(Warning: graphic)

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

While Clary and her friend Simon are at a club, she witnesses three teenagers murder another teen. Stranger than the odd tattoos that cover their skin or the weapons that they use is the fact that the body disappears into thin air. Stranger still is the fact that no one can see them except for her. Clary is immediately taken into the world of the Shadowhunters, part human/part angels who rid the Earth of demons. When Clary returns home, she finds that her mother has been taken by demons. Clary must then rely on the Shadowhunters, in particular the handsome but snarky Jace, to help her uncover the mysteries of her past so that she can save her mother.

With many characters and subplots, this story is extremely action packed. Between battles, there are friendships and potential love connections being made. One of my new favorites!

Nice Girls Don't Live Forever by Molly Harper

Nothing sucks the romance out of world travel like a boyfriend who may or may not have broken up with you in a hotel room. Jane Jameson’s sexy sire has always been unpredictable, but the anonymous notes that await him at each stop of their vacation, coupled with his evasive behavior, push Jane onto the next flight home. Now she's nursing a broken heart with plenty of Type O, some TLC from her colorful friends, and her plans for a Brave New Jane. Step One: Get her new occult bookstore off the ground. Step Two: Support her best friend, and his werewolf bride as they prepare for the impending birth of their baby. Step Three: Figure out who’s been sending her threatening letters. For this nice girl, surviving a broken heart is suddenly becoming a matter of life and undeath.

I can't wait for the next book in this series they are so much fun!

Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men by Molly Harper

Life as the undead is finally settling down for Jane Jameson. Her relationship with her sire is slowly coming into focus. She loves her new job at Specialty Books. Her family, well, her father, is adjusting well to her condition. With her best friend Zeb's nuptials looming on the horizon, Jane is forced to wear a bridesmaid’s dress her body may reject like a faulty organ. The passing of her annoying Grandma Ruthie’s fiancĂ©, puts her back on the market. Her new fiancĂ© has his own sordid history of suspiciously dead spouses, and died more than 20 years ago. With daytime funerals, mother-of-the-groom hijinks, and Styrofoam icebergs to contend with, will Jane survive her best friend’s wedding? Will she make nice with her possibly murderous future step-grandpa?

I really can't get enough of Jane. She reminds me of Sookie Stackhouse!

Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper

When children’s librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired and handed $25 gift card instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that’s sure to become legend. On her walk home, she’s mistaken for a deer, shot and left for dead. Thanks to a mysterious stranger she wakes up with a decidedly unladylike thirst for blood. Jane is now the latest recipient of a gift basket from the Newly Undead Welcoming Committee. Her recently deceased aunt is now her ghostly roommate. She has to fake breathing to avoid coming out of the coffin to her family. She’s forced to forgo her favorite Southern cooking for bags of O negative. Her relationship with her sexy sire keeps running hot and cold. If all that wasn’t enough, it looks like someone is trying to frame her for a series of murders. What’s a nice undead girl to do?

The first book in the Jane Jameson series is hilarious and action packed. Jane is a lovable and witty character.
