Captivate by Carrie Jones

Zara and her friends knew they hadn’t solved the pixie problem for good. Far from it. The king’s needs grow deeper every day he’s stuck in captivity. It’s made him vulnerable. And now there’s a new king in town. A turf war is imminent, and many lives are at stake. Can Zara and Nick protect everyone? Zara must decide what she is willing to sacrifice to save the ones she loves...

I absolutely LOVED the second book of this series! The relationships between these characters are so real and alive to the reader. I could not put this one down and will be starting the next book, Entice, immediately.

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. Now the law has finally caught up with her. This time though, she did not commit the crime. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable, the assassination of a monarch. The clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?

Though I was extremely pleased with this book, I would have enjoyed more elaboration on the future of these characters. As the last book in the series it was enough to leave the reader satisfied. Yet, I still felt there were too many holes for my taste. I guess I will need to read the spin off series which will follow some of the secondary characters, and include cameos from Rose, and other main characters.

Crescendo by Becca FItzpatrick

Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out why. Not to mention that she's haunted by images of her father and becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him the night he left and never came home. Since Patch isn't answering her questions, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

While I really enjoyed Hush, Hush, I had a hard time getting into this one.
I found the plot very predictable and often frustrating. However, the action did pick up towards the end and left me wanting to read the next one.

The Dark Divine by Bree Despain

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared; the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret and the cure that can save the ones she loves.

Absolutely LOVED this book! Can't wait to read her next installment The Lost Saint available December 28th.

Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

Beautiful darkness is the second book in this series. This one starts slow, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one!

Beastly by Alex Flinn

Kyle Kingsbury was the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and a perfect life. until a witch turned him into a beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog, but a horrible new creature who walks upright. A creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. He is a monster.

Are we talking about a fairy tale? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. He'll stay this way forever, unless he can break the spell.

A friend told me about this book and I'm so glad I read it. A very quick read that kept me enthralled. Can't wait to see the movie coming out March 18th.
