The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead

Once again I am pleased with this new series. I am loving Sydney as a main character. Richelle does an excellent job of developing these characters, while weaving their lives together. Again we are visited by familiar folks from the Vampire Academy series. Can't wait for the next one!!

Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins

Sophie has just escaped the destruction of the Prodigium Council, not knowing if her father, her best friend, or her love interest survived. All she has is orders from her friend Cal (who also may not have survived) to find her mother at a specific location. She is confused when she gets there and finds that it's the headquarters of the Brannicks, a family of female warriors with the sole purpose of hunting down prodigium. She uncovers a lot about her family history while there, which is shocking enough, but she also learns of a plan to use prodigium as vessels for raised demons. Even worse, she discovers that she may be the reason that the plan works.

I absolutely love these books! I am very upset, though, because the ending of this one felt very final. I haven't been able to find out if there's plans for any more, either, which is making me think that this may have been the last one. I will be extremely bummed if that is the case!

The Fire by James Patterson

Wist and Wisty continue to fight for their lives against The One Who Is The One. In the third and final book, they must infiltrate enemy headquarters, escape capture and journey to the Shadowland to save their parents. Most importantly, they must figure out how to use their Magic and fulfill the prophesies.

I really enjoyed this series. However, I was a little disappointed in some aspects. The magic or gift that these two characters possess is never fully explained. This left me a little bitter. I just felt there was a lot of time spent throughout the series talking about their gifts and how they don't understand them. I expected it to be explained at some point. All in all a good series and worth the read.

Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

Ever since she found out that she's a demon, one of only two in the world, Sophie has been determined to undergo the Removal. She wants nothing to do with her magical powers if they mean that she can, and most likely will, hurt people. And it wouldn't hurt her chances with Archer, since he's a demon hunter, but she's not so worried about that... maybe. Her dad, the head of the Council in charge of all prodigium, decides to take her to London where he feels like he can teach her more about controlling her powers. Sophie is excited at the prospect of going, and it has nothing to do with the latest reports saying that Archer is there as well... possibly. When Sophie arrives, though, she is shocked to find other demons living in the house, which leads her to the question: Who is raising more demons and why?

I am sooooo upset with Rachel Hawkins after finishing this one. I mean, I know that leaving readers hanging a bit while they wait for the next book to come out is becoming kind of trendy with authors, but SERIOUSLY?!?!? After that ending, we don't even know who's going to be alive in the next book, if anyone! But really, I love her writing style so much. Reading Sophie is like the running commentary in my head: full of sarcastic remarks and a tad bit snarky. It's going to be extremely hard to be patient for Spell Bound to be released on March 13, 2012.

Witch & Wizard:The Gift by James Patterson

This book was fantastic! Can be a little tough to follow when switching from one point of view to another. I can't wait for the next one!!

Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Beautiful darkness is the second book in this series. This one starts slow, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one!

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Sophie is a witch who recently came into her powers. Her father is a powerful warlock who she's never met. She and her human mother have been on the move ever since Sophie discovered her magic because her spells have a tendency to go wrong. Eventually, this leads to her being placed at Hecate Hall, a reform school for Prodigium, where she lives with other witches, shifters, and fae. One of the first things Sophie learns at her school is that there was a terrible murder there last year and all indications point to the only vampire in the school who just happens to be Sophie's roommate. As more students are attacked, Sophie tries to prove that her roommate is innocent, all the while struggling with three dark witches as enemies, a crush on the hottest warlock in school, and learning that her family history is very disturbing.

This was an excellent book. Not only is Sophie a strong character, but she's also witty and very funny. The mysteries in the story unravel in unexpected ways. I can't wait for the next book in the series! Unfortunately, there's no release date yet.

Witch & Wizard by James Patterson

This book was fantastic! It will really transport you to the world of Whit and Wisty where many things are banned by the New Order, such as certain books like: The Firegirl Saga (Twilight), Gary Blotter and the Guild of Rejects (Harry Potter), The Thunder Stealer (Percy Jackson), and the list goes on. This book has action, romance, mystery and humor. The sequel is rumored to be called "The Gift".

Firespell by Chloe Neill

St. Sophia's is full of spoiled trust fund babies who love nothing more than pointing out the new girl's flaws. This is a fabulous book! I couldn't stop reading. Can't wait for the next one!
